Angelina Jolie Shows Her Strength In Raising Cancer Awareness
Angelina Jolie has been in charge of leading a quiet life focused on her work and her five children, while she leaves behind the controversial divorce that she lived with Brad Pitt. The actress knows what it is to value her life after losing her mother Marcheline Bertrand, as a result of br--st and ovarian cancer that she suffered, so she usually keeps it very much in mind.
The celebrity who has earned respect and recognition in the film industry thanks to his career of more than two decades, paid a heartfelt tribute to her mother in the middle of what would have been her birthday and did it with a tender photo of both.
Marcheline died in 2007 when she was just 56 years old and Angelina 31 years old, so she still remembers her as if she were yesterday.
Angelina Jolie's thoughtful message about cancer
The actress posted a postcard on her social networks from when she was a child and was accompanied by her mother while recalling the long struggle she had to live through because of the disease that has killed millions of people worldwide.
“Tomorrow would have been my mother's 73rd birthday. She passed away 15 years ago after a long fight against br--st and ovarian cancer. In June I will be one month from the age that she was diagnosed. I've had preventative surgeries to try to lessen the chances, but I keep getting checkups,” she commented.
In the same way, she took the opportunity to send a message to all those people who are struggling with the disease or have a family member going through such a bitter moment.
“My mom loved Hendrix. And she would always sign her lyrics 'Kiss the Sky'. She took on a new meaning after she passed away… I send my love to those who have also lost loved ones and strength to those who are fighting right now for their lives and the lives of their loved ones. And to women, take the time to take care of yourself and get mammograms and blood tests or ultrasounds, especially if you have a family history of cancer,” she advised.
Jolie also watched one of her aunts die in 213 from br--st cancer, so she decided to take her own precautions by undergoing a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene, which increased her risk of the same condition.
To reduce the risks, she decided to remove the ovaries and fallopian tubes in a procedure called hysterectomy, as part of preventive operations so as not to experience what her mother experienced.
“I just feel like I made decisions to improve my chances of being here to see my children become adults and meet my grandchildren. My hope is to give as many years as I can to their lives and be here for them, ”she declared in 2019 to‘ Time’.
