Emma Watson refused to wear a corset in 'Beauty and the Beast'

Natural makeup and shoes with which she could run without difficulty were some of the requests of Emma Watson.

Emma Watson refused to wear a corset in 'Beauty and the Beast'

The actress Emma Watson seeks to carry her message of equality between men and women in the new film starring Beauty and the Beast, one of the most famous Disney films, by refusing to wear the traditional corset that Belle wears in the animated film. The live-on tape will arrive next year at the head of the interpreter of Hermione Granger and Dan Stevens.

Leaving aside the image of Disney princesses, Watson, one of the faces of women's empowerment, wants to offer the public a "princess as feisty as she is strong." According to Jacqueline Durran, head of costumes for the live-on of the tape, the UN ambassador, decided to remove any hint of S- from her role, which led her, for example, to demand that Bella's classic yellow dress not have a corset.

"In Emma Watson's reimagining, Belle is an active princess, so she didn't want an oppressive dress that would hinder her movement," Durran told Entertainment Weekly. Among the recommendations given by Watson, the dress should "be light and have a lot of movement."

Regarding makeup, Watson decided that natural makeup be used in all scenes. The costume designer said that the actress asked that 18th-century style shoes be adapted so that she can run without difficulty.
