Mariah Carey's disastrous performance in Times Square (New York) on New Year's Eve will continue to be in the news. The 47-year-old American singer ended the year with a bumpy performance in which technical problems with the sound ended up turning the moment into a huge fiasco.
"These are things that happen. Everyone has a happy and healthy new year. I will continue to make more headlines in 2017," Carey said in a brief message posted on her Twitter account shortly after her performance, along with a video with one of her characteristic grimaces.
Carey was one of the artists invited to participate in the celebrations in Times Square where more than a million people gathered before the traditional descent of the crystal ball that welcomes the New Year in the Big Apple. But the sound problems began to reveal that the diva was interpreting one of her greatest hits, "Emotions", with pre-recorded sound, and then she began to walk around the stage and even asked the audience to sing for her.
But this isn't the first time the singer of one of the biggest Christmas hits, All I Want for Christmas is You, has given a sultry performance.
Playback has never been her best ally. Sometimes the singer has gone ahead of the track and the television cameras have immortalized the mistake.
Other times alcohol has played a trick on him. In 2010, the singer received the award for best supporting actress for her role in Precious at the Palm Springs Film Festival. When she took the stage, her laughter, her tone of voice, and her hesitation when giving her thank you speech made it clear that the interpreter had gone too far. And if it's not for being out of tune, for lip-syncing, or going on stage while drunk. The diva is also something to talk about because she attempted to show that she has a "perfect" figure.
