Following her success in Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot became a Hollywood superstar. Now, she would be looking to use her attributes to land the lead and also produce the next Showtime series about actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr, billed as a real-life wonder woman.
As reported by the Magazine, the Israeli company is close to closing an agreement with the chain to be part of the production. This initiative is well received by the company's executives, who assured: "If she joins, we will feel extremely happy."
It was the creator of the series The Affair, Sarah Treem, who began to develop this project on Hedy Lamarr. They were later joined by Warren Littlefield and Endeavor Content, producers of The Handmaid's Tale. An experienced team that would enhance its proposal with the arrival of Gal Gadot.
Hedy Lamarr: Wonder Woman
Hedy Lamarr was born in Austria in 1914, however, she began her acting career in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s. She thus came to London, where she met the boss of Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer, who took her to Hollywood. She was part of tapes like Algiers (1938), Come Live With Me (1941), and Samson and Delilah (1949), true classics.
But that was not the only talent of the woman of Jewish origin, since she, at the same time, was an inventor. In fact, in the middle of World War II, she created, together with the composer George Antheil, a guidance system for the Allies. The device used a spread spectrum frequency and allowed long-distance wireless communication. Decades later, her invention was instrumental in the arrival of Bluetooth and WiFi.
Lamarr and Antheil were inducted into the North American National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014. Therefore, it is not surprising that the successful Gal Gadot wants to represent her in the series based on her life. We will have to wait for Showtime to confirm the Israeli actress as the protagonist and producer of this project.
