In the following interview, the actress talks about the success of the musical comedy "Pitch Perfect", which she has as its star.
She has conquered, through naturalness and irony, the title of a normal girl who succeeds in Hollywood. Even so, Anna Kendrick, nominated for an Oscar for "Up in the Air" (2009), is not used to being the protagonist of the film and less of a saga, like the musical comedy "Pitch Perfect".
"Playing the lead is very rare, particularly in a saga. On the one hand, it's exciting, but sometimes I wonder if I really want to continue doing this because it wasn't one of my ambitions," says the actress in an interview with Efe, ten days away from the world premiere of "Pitch Perfect 2".
"In fact, I would love, at some point in my career, to go back and simply become a character actress," she says, referring to what is called a "character actress" in English, with supporting roles but with a strong personality. and impact.
Kendrick, about to turn 30, achieved her first break when she was just 13, with the Broadway musical "High Society," which earned her a Tony nomination. She made her film debut in 2003 with another musical comedy, "Camp", and five years later she slipped into the "Twilight" saga, with the role of Jessica.
But her big impact came with the Oscar nomination, thanks to the rookie Natalie, who accompanied George Clooney from flight to flight in "Up in the Air" (2009).
"Obviously, it was a great moment, but the truth is that it took me a couple of years to get to do the variety of films that I'm doing now. After 'Up in the Air' they always offered me the same type of characters and I didn't I was interested. If there is something I don't feel like doing, it is doing the same thing over and over again," he stresses.
In the last three years, this middle-class daughter -accountant mother and teacher father-, hyperactive on Twitter and outspoken -her tweet about masturbating while watching Ryan Gosling movies caused rivers of ink to flow- has shot a whopping 15 titles.
Among them are musicals like "Into the Woods", with Meryl Streep, but also independent productions like "Drinking Buddies", thrillers like "The Company You Keep", with Robert Redford and Julie Christie, or forays into the fantastic like "Rapture -PaloozaRapture-Palooza has at least seven yet to be released, including "Mr. Right", directed by Paco Cabezas.
"How am I feeling? Tired," she admits. "But everything that is happening to me is very exciting. This is what I have always wanted to do, and the idea of taking a few months off is very strange for me," she adds.
