The cases against Michael Jackson were reopened 14 years after his death

Michael Jackson had a life plagued with controversies and was always the focus of the major international media. Whether it's because of his extravagance or his musical and dance talent that he knew how to make the whole world fall in love with him, the king of pop never left anyone indifferent to every decision he made or word he said.

The most relevant were always the accusations of abuse of minors, which the music star allegedly perpetrated in his California mansion, Neverland.

This week the appeals court has reopened two cases of abuse against Michael Jackson. This is that of the plaintiffs and alleged victims Wade Robson and James Safechuck, whose stories became known thanks to their stories in the Leaving Neverland documentary, released in 2019.

What is sought now is that the companies MJJ Productions Inc. and MJJ Ventures Inc., of which the pop music benchmark was a shareholder, act on behalf of the late singer and be the ones to take charge of the resolution in case of leaving in favor of the plaintiffs.

"The plaintiffs had every right to expect that the defendants (the companies) would protect them from the entirely foreseeable danger of being left alone with Michael Jackson," the magistrates claimed.

For their part, the three judges in charge of the court explained: “A corporation that facilitates the abuse of children by one of the employers cannot be excused from an affirmative duty to protect those minors for the mere fact that it is property of the abuser.

This new opportunity that Wade Robson and James Safechuck have to find justice for the crime that they claim happened in the 80s and 90s, was given thanks to a motivation of the law in 2020, however at that time they were rejected by the court's first instance in 2021.

As the judges explained at that time, it was that, given the death of Michael Jackson, the alleged victims could not hold their companies responsible for what happened.
