The 2023 Oscars were the scene of some historic moments. But one of the most emotional events took place towards the end of the ceremony when Ke Huy Quan and Harrison Ford shared a warm hug. That moment made all the spectators emotional.
The two actors have known each other for a long time and were co-stars in the 1984 film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Quan played the role of Short Round, the lovable little sidekick of Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford). In the film, they live all kinds of adventures while trying to recover some mystical and sacred stones.
Nearly four decades after the film, the chemistry between the duo continues. Before the awards ceremony, Ford was asked about Quan's Oscar nomination, and the Hollywood icon had nothing but praise for his former co-star.
"I am very happy for him. He's a great guy. He is a wonderful actor. He was when he was little and he still is.”
Quan also opened up about the accidental meeting they had in 2022. He said he wasn't sure if Ford was going to acknowledge it.
“I thought, 'My God, he probably thinks I'm a fan and he's going to tell me not to go near him.' But he looked at me, pointed at me, and said: 'Are you Short Round?' Immediately, I was transported back to 1984, when he was a kid, and I said, 'Yes, Indy.' And he said, 'Come here,' and he gave me a big hug."
Earlier this year, Quan left the audience emotional after delivering a speech at his first Golden Globe Award. At the 95th Academy Awards, he moved the audience again when he recalled the sacrifices his actors had to make. parents so he could achieve his “American dream.”
Ford also participated as a presenter at the Oscars, and was announced the winner of the last category, best picture: Everything Everywhere at the Same Time. The cast, which included Quan, took the stage to receive the trophy, and Short Round and Indy met again.

The actor vividly described the moment, which took place during a commercial break. He “hugged me and said, 'Ke, you're an Oscar-winning actor now.' Hearing him say that meant everything to me, and I still don't believe it.”
