Cruella is set in the 1970s in London, England. It follows the story of Estella, a smart young con artist who is determined to shine in the fashion world as a designer. The girl begins to have a more interesting life when she befriends a group of thieves who take over the streets of London. But one day everything changes when she meets Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend, who will help the creative Estella become Cruella, a woman full of hatred and revenge.
In the film, fashion is a main element and that is why the production took great care of the costume design. Emma Stone wore 47 outfits to play the villain. The impressive work was carried out by Jenny Beavan, an English designer who has been nominated for an Oscar 10 times; she has won two: for A Room with a View and Mad Max: Fury Road.
Beavan confessed that “this movie is the greatest thing” she has ever worked on. She recognizes that fashion is a key factor, because initially the villain wanted to be a haute couture designer. For this fabric expert it was "very important that Cruella be black, white, gray and red."
When Emma Stone saw all those spectacular outfits, she was very impressed and did not stop taking photos, which she confessed was very in line with the narcissistic personality of her character. We are sure that we too will be left speechless after seeing the film on the screen.
