Nearly two decades have passed since "The Good Girl" graced the big screen, featuring Jennifer Aniston as the disillusioned Justine Last and Jake Gyllenhaal.
During this time, Aniston had risen to stardom as Rachel Green in "Friends," becoming the object of affection for Gyllenhaal, who had recently starred in "Donnie Darko."
Gyllenhaal candidly shared his experiences in an interview on 'The Howard Stern Show' on SiriusXM. He confessed to being infatuated with Aniston and revealed that filming scenes in "The Good Girl" was quite complex. He humorously remarked, "Filming [the scenes] was torture."
He continued, "It wasn't torture either. I mean, come on, it was a mix of both. Interestingly, love scenes can be uncomfortable because there are perhaps 30 or 50 people watching. That doesn't turn me on. It's oddly mechanical. It's like a dance. You're choreographing for the camera. You can get into the scene, but it's like a fight sequence; you have to choreograph it."
Gyllenhaal also shared a clever trick suggested by Jennifer Aniston for filming scenes—using a pillow. He explained, "We used the pillow technique. It was purely precautionary and is generally employed for horizontal scenes in a film. I believe Jennifer suggested it. She was very gracious to propose it before we started. She said, 'I'm going to put a pillow here.'"
This isn't the first time Gyllenhaal has openly expressed his admiration for Jennifer Aniston. Six years ago, he told 'People' magazine, "I've had a crush on her for years. And working with her wasn't easy, it was... That's all I'll say. It was wonderful. It wasn't challenging. That's what I'll say."
