However, in light of the s---al abuse allegations against Weinstein, Jennifer Lawrence now joins the chorus of critics condemning his actions. In an interview with Variety, she expressed her thoughts on the matter, saying, "I have been deeply affected by hearing the news about Harvey Weinstein's behavior.
I worked with Harvey five years ago, and I neither experienced any personal harassment nor was aware of any such accusations. The type of abuse is inexcusable and terribly sad. My heart goes out to all those women affected by those disgusting acts, and I want to thank them for their bravery in coming forward."
Mark Ruffalo has also strongly criticized Weinstein's abusive behavior. Meryl Streep, who worked with Weinstein in the film "The Iron Lady" and won an Oscar for her role as Margaret Thatcher, denounced the producer's actions, saying, "The behavior is inexcusable, but the abuse of power is all too familiar. Every brave voice that comes forward, is amplified by the media, and is given credibility, will ultimately bring about change."
Actor George Clooney, who has known Harvey Weinstein for two decades, added his perspective to the issue. He clarified that he had never witnessed any abusive behavior from Weinstein, despite their long-standing professional relationship. Clooney stated, "It's indefensible. That's the only word you can use to describe it. Harvey has admitted it, and it's indefensible.
I've known him for 20 years. He gave me my first significant acting break in movies like 'From Dusk Till Dawn,' and he gave me my first break as a director with 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.' We've shared dinners, been in various locations together, and had disagreements. But I can honestly say that I never observed any behavior related to these allegations."
