The musician and the current monarch met in the 90s in Guadalajara where they would have had a strong romance, which the crown would have tried to cover up.
The band Maná, led by Fher Olvera, is one of the most important in Latin America, having several hits that are already part of popular culture. Some have even gone so far as to describe them as the Mexican Rolling Stones.
With their current Latin American tour, the group will once again visit the most important stages in the region, reuniting with the public that saw them grow and succeed and that has been accompanying them for a long time.
That is why it is not strange that, once it is back on the agenda, old sc---als that had a lot of impact at the time begin to emerge, such as the alleged romance between Fher Olvera and Queen Letizia of Spain, which would have been silenced by the Spanish crown.
It was in 2004, when the magazine Who published a report titled “The hidden past of Letizia of Spain”, where the Maná singer was mentioned. It states that the current monarch had arrived in Jalisco in 1995 as part of a university exchange and was hired by the journalistic Siglo 21.
Years later, Fher Olvera's band was asked about Queen Letizia and her guitarist assured that there was contact. “I was living in Guadalajara. He was a journalist. She interviewed us. As a journalist she was tough. Fher did not allow him to leave in front of her, she made him put out his cigarette and he got upset. She got harder. But at the end of the concert she liked the band and had some tequilas," explained the group member.
This comment went unnoticed until 2019, when a rumor began to circulate that the Maná singer was romantically involved with the monarch, following a version that claimed that the musician had confessed the affair while on the verge of death, in an operating room during a operation.
At that time, Fher Olvera was consulted by the Telemundo program Suelta la Sopa, where he hinted at some details. “First, a gentleman has no memory and we left it there, but no. All my respects to the queen and the royalty and the people of Spain, who love them very much. We never say anything, we are calm people with that,” he explained, avoiding confirming the information.
