In a recent interview, the director of the film responded to the actress's contentious revelations.

The Mystery Behind Sharon Stone's Leg-Crossing Scene in 'Basic Instinct'

In March of last year, Sharon Stone made a revelation in 'Vanity Fair' excerpts from her memoir, stating that she had been deceived into forgoing underwear during the iconic leg-crossing scene in the movie 'Basic Instinct,' directed by Paul Verhoeven.

This revelation marked a pivotal moment in Verhoeven's Hollywood career. Stone claimed that a member of the production team instructed her to remove her underwear under the pretext of capturing a shot that wouldn't reveal anything explicit. Allegedly, she justified the decision by explaining that her white panties were causing lighting issues during the scene.

Stone's first viewing of her now-legendary leg-crossing moment occurred in "a room full of agents and a lawyer," where she realized that her int--ate anatomy was visible on screen, contrary to the assurances she had received.

However, director Paul Verhoeven has refuted Stone's controversial statements in an interview with 'Variety' magazine. He expressed that his recollection of the events differs significantly from Stone's, emphasizing that it doesn't diminish the remarkable way she portrayed the character of Catherine Tramell.

Verhoeven acknowledged Stone's exceptional performance and clarified that they still maintain a friendly relationship, exchanging text messages. Nevertheless, he firmly stated, "Her version is impossible. She knew exactly what we were doing."
