Eva Green wins a trial in the United Kingdom for an unmade film

The French actress Eva Green, who acted in a James Bond film, won her case in London on Friday against the producer of a science fiction film from which she claimed her fees even though the feature film was annulled.

Eva Green wins a trial in the United Kingdom for an unmade film

The 42-year-old actress, known - among other works - for her performance in “Casino Royale” (from the James Bond saga) in 2006, was supposed to act in the science fiction film “A Patriot”, before production was interrupted that project in October 2019.

The interpreter sued the British production company White Lantern Films to claim her payment of one million dollars (918,000 euros) for the film, despite its annulment.

But the company decided to fight back by launching its own lawsuits against the actress, whom it accused of making “absurd requests” and negatively impacting the production of the film.

But this Friday, the High Court of London ruled in favor of the actress and not the producer.

Judge Michael Green concluded that the actress did not “waive her obligations” and that she did not commit any contractual breach.

The actress welcomed the decision and stated that she fought fiercely to defend a film that she loved.

She said she had “fell in love” with the project, which was supposed to be about the climate crisis.

White Lantern Films' lawyers considered, however, that the actress did not have enough "trust" in the production company's team and argued, relying on WhatsApp messages, that Eva Green called a member of the team "diabolical", of “grievous sociopath”, “crazy” and “liar”. And Green would have described the production director, Terry Bird, as a “cretin,” according to the production company.
