Confirming the vitality of King Carlos became a pressing matter when reports of his demise surfaced, only to be refuted later by Buckingham Palace.
According to Russian media, news of the king's unexpected demise circulated late yesterday. However, Buckingham Palace swiftly debunked these claims.
Despite the viral social media chatter suggesting otherwise, King Carlos III's existence persisted, much to the relief of his supporters.
The clarification from Buckingham Palace came in response to an announcement made on March 18. This announcement, originating from a Russian news outlet, asserted that the 75-year-old monarch was alive and well.
“We are pleased to confirm that the king continues to fulfill his official and private duties,” stated the palace in correspondence with the TASS official news agency. "Any future updates will be communicated through official channels. The purported statement regarding the king's untimely demise is entirely false."
Speculation surrounding Carlos's health intensified following reports that the BBC was gearing up for a significant announcement regarding the royal family. While some speculated it might concern Princess Kate Middleton's recovery from abdominal surgery, others suggested it could provide updates on Carlos's battle with cancer.
Buckingham Palace had revealed on February 5 that King Carlos had been diagnosed with "a form of cancer" following treatment for prostate enlargement.
However, amidst concerns about the king's health, royal reporter Omid Scobie swiftly dispelled rumors of prostate cancer, stating, "His Majesty has begun a regimen of regular treatments today, during which doctors have advised him to postpone his public duties. nevertheless, His Majesty will continue to fulfill his state obligations and official engagements as usual."
In a personal statement released through Buckingham Palace a few days later, King Carlos addressed his cancer diagnosis directly.
“I am deeply grateful for the numerous messages and well-wishes I have received over the past few days,” he expressed on February 10. “As those affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts provide the greatest comfort and encouragement.”
Carlos went on to express admiration for others facing similar challenges, noting, "My lifelong admiration for their resolute spirit and unwavering dedication has only been strengthened by my own experience."
While the monarch maintained a low public profile, he continued to host various meetings at Buckingham Palace, albeit with other royal family members often representing him at public events.
