Oliver Hudson, Goldie Hawn's eldest son, has recently been on a spiritual retreat, where he apparently realized that much of his childhood trauma has to do with his mother. That's how he told it.
Oliver Hudson, 47, is Goldie Hawn's eldest son from her marriage to Bill Hudson. Kate Hudson was also born from this relationship. Shortly after, the relationship broke up and when Goldie met Kurt Russell, he became the true father of those children, since Bill was not very present in her life.
Now Oliver, who also works as an actor, has said that, although her mother was always the only constant in her life, he paradoxically believes that a large part of her childhood traumas are due to her. This is what he has revealed in the podcast he has with his sister, Sibling Revelry.
He recently went to a spiritual retreat where he was going to treat these traumas, and he arrived there thinking that everything was going to revolve "around my father and Kurt Russell, because he was the one who raised me." But curiously, the entire therapy revolved around his mother, "everything turned upside down."
"As a child I felt unprotected. She was working and away or had new boyfriends that I didn't like very much. She was living her life." Although he acknowledges that Goldie "was an incredible mother," he does feel, as a child that he didn't have her father around, "he needed her to be there, and sometimes she just wasn't there."
Oliver and his sister Kate have spoken openly on different occasions about how difficult it was to experience their parents' divorce, including the feeling of abandonment due to the absence of his father. But Oliver has managed to find some positive aspects in their relationship.
"When I was with him it was incredible. He listened to me, we played soccer, we played basketball, we were on the beach, he taught me how to fish. It's strange because he was very present, but he was never there, you know how What do I mean?"
