Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the former royal couple who turned their backs on the monarchy, appear to have stumbled into an entirely new kind of embarrassment.
While they may enjoy the luxuries of a glamorous entourage, it seems they can’t stretch their finances far enough to cover even the basic costs of feeding their staff. According to a recent blind item, a restaurant that Meghan frequents finally drew a line in the sand. The restaurant told her that if she wanted to reserve valuable seats for her entourage, she would need to pay for their meals, or they would be out of luck.
As a result, the couple’s entourage has mysteriously vanished from public view, now relegated to waiting outside like forgotten companions—an utterly embarrassing display. One would expect that after stepping away from royal life, Harry and Meghan might adopt a more gracious demeanor, particularly toward those who work for them. But instead, they continue to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. As children, most of us are taught simple lessons in etiquette—if you don’t have enough to go around, you don’t indulge in a treat while others are left longing for it. It’s called sharing, a basic principle of kindness. But evidently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex missed that lesson entirely. Perhaps they were too absorbed in self-promotion and their ongoing grievances to notice the importance of such simple courtesies.
To put it bluntly, what an incredibly cheap move on their part. Despite their status and wealth, they can’t seem to scrape together enough decency or consideration to feed the people who are there to support them. Harry, who has long been criticized for his notorious tightfistedness, appears to be no different from Meghan when it comes to loosening the purse strings. With all the money flowing in from various business ventures, endorsements, and deals, one would think they could at least manage to have their charity, Archewell, cover the costs of a meal for their staff. It’s downright embarrassing. And considering they seem to care so much about setting a good example for their children, one has to wonder: what kind of message are they sending?
Meghan, who constantly preaches about manners and etiquette, seems to have forgotten that setting a good example requires more than just lecturing others. How can she possibly teach her children about kindness, respect, and good manners when she’s so utterly lacking in them herself? It’s a classic case of "do as I say, not as I do." If they can’t even be bothered to buy a meal for the people working for them, what lesson does that teach their kids?
Harry, who has never had to pick up a tab in his life, has grown accustomed to others footing the bill. So it’s no surprise that he expects the same treatment now. Imagine the scene: the Duke and Duchess are enjoying a lavish meal at a posh restaurant while their entourage is left outside in the cold, waiting like second-class citizens. It’s not only pitiful but also utterly ridiculous. And what about their security team? Are they left waiting outside too, while the couple dines in luxury? If these guards are required to be at their side at all times, wouldn’t it make more sense for them to be inside, where they can actually do their job? It’s a bizarre and unsettling situation, raising questions about their priorities.
The public has grown increasingly indifferent toward Harry and Meghan. Despite their self-importance and constant attention-seeking, they’ve failed to capture the admiration they may have hoped for. The only people who seem to care are the ones forced to wait outside while the couple indulges in their overpriced meals. This whole debacle is a glaring reflection of who they really are: two people so consumed with their own sense of grandeur that they forget what it means to be a decent human being. Real decency means considering the feelings of others, something Harry and Meghan clearly haven’t grasped.
