Meghan Markle has once again become embroiled in controversy, though this time it appears to be the result of an error.
The social media platform Instagram recently sparked confusion and criticism when it mistakenly blocked the hashtag #WithLoveMeghan, which is associated with Markle’s forthcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
Users searching for the hashtag were met with a warning message claiming the content had been hidden due to sensitivity concerns. According to a report from MailOnline, the notification stated, "We think your search might be associated with child sexual abuse."
Following swift backlash and numerous user complaints, Instagram promptly removed the restriction and issued a statement clarifying the situation.
A spokesperson for Meta, Instagram’s parent company, told FEMAIL, "We restrict searches for terms that could be linked to potential child safety risks. In this case, the term was incorrectly flagged, but the issue has been corrected."
As of now, the hashtag is fully functional again, and users can search for it without encountering any warnings.
This incident comes shortly after Netflix released a teaser for Markle's highly anticipated series, With Love, Meghan, which is slated for a global premiere on January 15, 2025.
