John Travolta shared a message for his wife, Kelly Preston, on her 64th birthday
The actor remembered his wife—who passed away in 2020 from breast cancer—by posting a video of their daughter, Ella Bleu, during her debut at Paris Fashion Week.
John Travolta paid tribute to his wife, Kelly Preston, on her birthday. On Tuesday, October 13, the actor posted a video of his daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, as she prepared for her debut at Paris Fashion Week.
Preston would have turned 64 this year, six years after her passing from breast cancer. The post included a message addressed to his wife, in which Travolta highlighted their daughter’s journey in the fashion industry.
“Look at your little girl now, Kelly! Happy birthday—you must be so proud!” he wrote on Instagram.
26-year-old Ella Bleu made her runway debut for Miu Miu during the presentation of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, held on October 4.
The video shared by her father shows the young woman preparing for the fashion show—an experience that John Travolta connected to the memory of Kelly Preston.
Their daughter also marked the occasion by sharing a post on her Instagram Stories. Ella Bleu posted a childhood photo of herself with her mother, adding the message: “Happy birthday, Mom. I love you.”
A relationship spanning nearly three decades
John Travolta and Kelly Preston met during casting sessions for the film The Experts, released in 1989. At the time, the actress was married to actor Kevin Gage. Following her separation, she married Travolta in 1991.
The couple remained married for nearly three decades and had three children: Jett, Ella Bleu, and Benjamin. Jett passed away in 2009 at the age of 16. Benjamin is currently 15 years old.
Kelly died in 2020 at the age of 57, following a battle with breast cancer. Upon announcing her passing, John stated that he would be taking some time away from the public eye to be with his children as they navigated their grief.
In that message, the actor expressed his gratitude for the care his wife received during her medical treatment, as well as for the support from family and friends.
“She fought a courageous fight, with the love and support of so many. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children, who have lost their mother, so please forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while,” Travolta wrote when announcing her death.
He also acknowledged the doctors and nurses at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and other medical facilities who were involved in her care.
In the years following Kelly Preston’s death, John Travolta has spoken publicly about the grieving process and how he received the outpouring of support.
In a 2021 interview with Esquire Spain, he explained that the sheer volume of condolence messages became difficult for him to manage.
“The most important thing you can do to help someone who is grieving is to allow them to experience it, without complicating it with your own pain,” he stated.
The actor noted that he felt overwhelmed by the sadness of others and did not know how to respond to all the expressions of solidarity he received following his loss.
