The singer's dress was made by a Mexican designer, with very fine fabrics purchased in New York and Swarovski crystals, as well as a great flow.
Thalía and Tommy Mottola celebrated their wedding on December 2, 2000. Various celebrities from the world of entertainment attended the place and were surprised when the Mexican paraded with her enormous and fantastic wedding dress.
According to the magazine Who, when the tycoon gave Thalía the engagement ring in 1999, the couple began preparing for the wedding. The first concern of the Mexican singer was her wedding dress, but her fiancée told her that the only ones who could take care of it would be the fashion houses, Christian Dior or Giorgio Armani.
Thalía rejected the idea, as she always wanted it to be made by Jorge García Cárdenas, better known as Mitzy, designer of the stars. Since she was a teenager, that was her dream and the two of them even used to talk about it in his workshop.
The actress always told Mitzy: “My dress is not negotiable. I'm not stupid, I know who Dior is, but no one is going to make me that dress with the same love that you would," the designer told Quien magazine. Tommy accepted that the Mexican was in charge of doing it.
The making of the dress took about a year, but Mitzy revealed that the idea for the design of the wedding dress came from the interpreter of what will become of you, as well as the hairstyle. The two friends went to various fabric stores in New York. One of her visits was to the Swarovski House to select the crystals that would be embroidered on the dress. Mitzy fashioned the costume from the silver thread, as well as inserting all the crystals by hand.
Another of Thalía's ideas is that the train of the dress would reach from the altar to the entrance of Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York, so the tail would have a length of 62 meters, but Mitzy rejected her friend's idea and finally, they decided that it was 18 meters long; in one part of the tail, the two initials of the bride and groom (T&T) were embroidered.
The final cost of the dress was 350 thousand dollars and in total, it had about 15 kilos of embedded Austrian crystal and weighed 70 kilos distributed between the front and the enormous tail. In addition to this piece, Mitzy made three other dresses for the big night.
When Thalía entered the cathedral, the dress shone thanks to the large reflectors that had been placed. Suddenly the camera focused on Michael Jackson and Mitzy remembered that the King of Pop turned to see her and her gesture was of great surprise.
At the end of the 45 minutes, the couple sealed their love with a kiss as they left the church in front of their great guests such as Juan Gabriel, Julio Iglesias, Verónica Castro, Danny Devito, Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, Bruce Springsteen, Robert de Niros, among others.
In December of last year, Thalía and Tommy returned to the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of their marriage. It was through her stories from her official Instagram account that the singer was seen on the streets in the company of her husband.
Days before, the interpreter of Amor A La Mexicana left a message to Mottola on the social network of photographs. “Happy anniversary my love. These 22 years together have been the most beautiful thing that has happened to us in this life. 20 years ago, we left St. Patrick's Cathedral full of illusions and plans, and look how far we have come, my love! I love you deeply today and always and I thank God that together we can accompany our children through this life."
