Treat Williams passed away this Monday after suffering a motorcycle accident at the age of 71.
The television star died on Monday afternoon in a tragic motorcycle accident. As revealed by his agent, Barry McPherson, a car cut him off when he was making a turn and they ended up colliding. The actor's family has shared a statement with Deadline.
"It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Treat Williams has passed away tonight in Dorset, Vermont, after a fatal motorcycle accident. As you can imagine, we are shocked and deeply affected at this time," the family acknowledged.
"Treat was full of love for his family, for his life, and his art, and he truly went 100% through everything. Right now it's all a shock, but please know that Treat was very loved and deeply loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him. We are beyond devastated and ask for respect and privacy as we deal with the loss," they added.
"To all of his fans, please know that Treat appreciated all of you and please continue to hold him in your hearts and prayers," he ends.
His agent has assured that he too was "devastated" and that he was the kindest man.
"He was an actor from before. The filmmakers loved him. He has been the heart of Hollywood since the late 70s. And he was very proud of his work this year. He has been so happy with his work and his career," he said. lamented McPherson in People.
Treat Williams became well known for his role as Dr. Andy Brown in 'Everwood', a series in which he met many rising stars such as Emily VanCamp ('The Winter Soldier') and Chris Pratt ('Guardians of the Galaxy').
