The Canadian actor of Chinese descent assured in a 2015 publication that pedophilia must be accepted as g-ys were accepted. “Being a pedophile is no different than being g-y,” he posted.
Simu Liu, a pretty agonist of the Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was in the eye of the storm past week for comments he made in the past on the Reddit social network, criticizing women in sports and Islam, which earned him the cancellation of American progressivism.
Users connected the user “NippedInTheBud” to Liu through the GitHub search tool. The account was renamed, and at one point had uploaded a photo of Liu showing it was him, and even opened an Ask Me Anything in 2018 and 2019, identifying the owner of it as Liu.
Even though these comments sound bad for a group of people on the far left, and not for the general public, there was another series of posts that no one can agree with. Recounting the experience of him playing a pedophile in a 2015 series, Liu wrote a lengthy post sympathizing and sympathizing with pedophiles.
"From a biological point of view, being a pedophile is not unlike being gay, a small mutation in the genome that determines our preferences," he wrote. He assured that “taking advantage of minors is wrong. Disgusting and vile, even,” but he said that many times society mistreats someone just for having pedophilic thoughts.
"The experience made me much more understanding of anyone born with those impulses," he said, criticizing therapy for pedophiles in mental institutions. "It's just as bad as conversion therapy for LGBTQ+ people."
He did not say what type of therapy he would recommend instead, but, apparently speaking to someone who is attracted to children, he recommended "using disposable items" and asked to "copy what is done in Germany", although he did not describe what exactly it is.
“As part of my research into pedophilia I realized that these people have nowhere to run, even pedophiles who never acted on those impulses are ostracized from society,” he wrote. And he warned that "the problem is that psychologists and psychiatrists cannot treat pedophiles because they are obliged to report any child abuse."
For this post, Liu earned his first "gold star" on Reddit, awarded when users and moderators agree it's a good post.
“Who knew that my first gold medal is for a publication sympathizing with pedophiles. GREAT! Thanks for the medal. It shows that Reddit users are capable of great compassion,” he wrote months later.
In the TL;DR (Too Long, Didn't Read), Liu captioned his post as “I am a famous actor who played a pedophile on a TV show, and I found out that being a pedophile is no different from being gay. Everyone deserves compassion. Not everything is black or white."
Disney hasn't weighed in on this yet, but going by his history, it's highly likely we won't see Simu Liu in a Marvel movie for a long time. The last time something like this happened to him was with director James Gunn, who after directing Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in 2017 was fired from Marvel Entertainment when posts on Twitter with racist, homophobic, and violent comments surfaced.
Liu only managed to re-post a 2019 tweet where he asked to stay positive and said that if anyone delved deep enough into his past, they would find a "more immature" "version" of him, "caving into anger and hate."
