An emotional crisis would be the cause of the hospitalization of the famous American actress and singer Selena Gómez, as reported on Thursday by the media specialized in celebrities 'TMZ'.
The sources consulted by 'TMZ' indicated that Gómez, 26, had a first hospital admission the last week of September as she was "nervous" and "depressed" by an "alarming low" level of white blood cells in the blood.
Gómez was discharged after a few days at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles (California), but at the end of last week she was admitted again as her low level of white blood cells persisted, which led to a "spiral negative emotional."
But beyond the emotional problems, the artist, who became famous as a child thanks to her performances in Disney productions, suffers from lupus. In fact, last year she underwent a kidney transplant for the disease.
It is an autoimmune disease; that is, the immune system itself attacks healthy cells and tissues by mistake. This can damage many parts of the body, including the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels, and brain, as defined by the US National Library of Medicine.
How does it manifest?
In 80 percent of patients, this disease begins as arthritis; in fact, it can resemble other diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. The main symptoms are pain or inflammation in the joints, muscle aches, fever of unknown origin, and red skin rashes, usually on the face.
