For many moviegoers, the sequel to 'Terminator' is one of the most relevant films, both in the franchise and in the science fiction genre, however, it was revealed that the script for 'Terminator 2' confused Arnold Schwarzenegger, the protagonist of the film, but what was the reason for his bewilderment? Director James Cameron recently responded.
For the first film, the Austrian actor was the main antagonist, which is why he had many action scenes full of chases, shots, and explosions, something that was customary to see in the feature films of the decade, however, the second part was different since that T-800 didn't have as many adrenaline-pumping sequences.
So the above was a problem because the script for 'Terminator 2' confused Arnold Schwarzenegger since there weren't so many action scenes, so during the Cannes Film Festival the actor asked Cameron and he tried to reassure him about the reason for this change.
“I could tell something was bothering him, right? We were friends at this time. After Terminator, we rode motorcycles together. And he said, 'Jim, I have a big problem with the script. I said, 'Well, what is it?' And he said, 'I don't eliminate anyone.' I said, 'I know, right? They will never see it coming. No one will guess it,'" he explained to 'The Ringer.'
And he added: “He said: ‘I know, but one thing is surprise. Another thing is that I don't kill anyone and I'm a Terminator. This is happening on some terrace in Cannes and the whole world is watching. I say, 'Let's talk about this'. I give you all the reasons for how it will work. He said: 'I know, but everyone knows that I kick in the door and shoot everyone. That's what I do.'"
In the end, Cameron managed to convince Schwarzenegger, and 'Terminator 2' became a great box-office success after raising 204 million dollars according to the Box Office, in addition to earning the applause of millions of people.
