According to an article by Iris Goldstein in Marie Claire, Meghan Markle is considering writing a memoir.
However, Prince Harry has allegedly halted her plans, fearing potential repercussions from the revelations she might make. Harry, who is reportedly seeking to reconcile with his royal relatives, appears determined to avoid repeating the mistakes that nearly ruined any chance of reconciliation after the release of his memoir, "Spare."
Rumors have circulated for months about Meghan's intention to write her own tell-all book. Royal expert Tom Bower has suggested that such a memoir was imminent, as Meghan reportedly wants to set the record straight. This move is understandable for someone looking to assert control and share her version of events. A memoir would provide her the opportunity to present her perspective and potentially earn a significant fee.
Despite this, a new source informed OK! Magazine that Harry is not supportive of another memoir from the Sussex camp. Although Harry has mentioned having enough material for a follow-up to "Spare," those plans have been abandoned due to the damage caused by his first book. The source stated that Harry has also put an end to Meghan's book plans. Initially, Meghan was unhappy with this decision, but there now seems to be a clear vision for how the Sussexes intend to mend fences with the royal family.
Currently, Harry is not on speaking terms with his older brother, Prince William. However, he and Meghan reportedly reached out to Princess Catherine while she was in the hospital this month. The beginnings of reconciliation with King Charles were evident when Harry called him for his birthday in November, a conversation that was deemed successful.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe also spoke to OK! Magazine, suggesting that another Sussex memoir would cause further turmoil and hinder Harry's hopes of healing the rift with his family. He noted that while "Spare" made a lot of money, it came at a significant personal cost to Harry. Larcombe believes that 2024 could be a year of peace between the royals on both sides of the Atlantic and that Harry might now be focused on building bridges.
However, the notion that Harry has managed to stop Meghan from writing a memoir to allow for reconciliation is highly doubtful. Meghan's actions are often driven by her own motivations, regardless of Harry's wishes. If she believes that holding off on a memoir will benefit her, she might do so temporarily. Yet, if writing a memoir aligns with her goals, she will likely proceed despite any potential fallout.
The allure of sharing her story, gaining attention, and earning money is too strong for Meghan to resist. While she might appear cooperative now, any threat to her control could prompt her to retaliate. Even if a reconciliation occurs, she may still decide to publish her memoir. Meghan prioritizes her own desires, and the appeal of writing a memoir remains compelling. She is not bound to follow Harry's preferences; instead, he is there to support her ambitions. The idea that Harry has permanently stopped Meghan's memoir plans to aid in reconciling with the royal family is unrealistic. Meghan will not be swayed by his preferences, and the chance to write a memoir is too tempting for her to forego indefinitely.
