Kaya Scodelario has recounted how a director she was auditioning for promised the job to whoever she agreed to strip first.
The Skins star opened up about his experiences in the industry in a series of Twitter posts in which he expressed his fear that young actors have been conditioned to think it's normal to be measured by how good their bodies are.
Scodelario said that she was once invited to an audition where all she had to do was strip and that for another role in which it was between her and another woman, a director said the role would go to whoever agreed to strip first.
She tweeted: “I auditioned for a job a few years ago. She was like, 'She just needs to get in. Take off your clothes and that's it. She was terrified.
“Luckily, I have an agent who was quick to say there was no way that was going to happen. This was a great movie. A great director. A great opportunity."
Scodelario, 29, continued: “Different casting, between me and another actress. They both worked very hard to impress this notoriously difficult director, he auditioned multiple times.
"He emailed our agents 'Whoever agrees to strip first gets the job.'
"The film had no N-. I just wanted to see who said yes."
The star said: "A LOT of young actors don't have the safe net of a caring agent to protect them."
“They will assume that it is normal for an actress to be worth being measured by the body that she has,” she said.
“Because of the amount of skin they are willing to s, how.
"We have been conditioned to believe this."
Scodelario said that she would probably feel "scared" that he tweeted about her experiences.
“I'm going to wake up in the morning with anxiety about tweeting. Although I have not given names. I'm still going to be afraid.
“Women who come forward openly are very brave. I am in awe of all of you.
